Yoga Therapy Training 2026
At Marrickville Yoga Centre, Simon and Hasu have a long and extensive history with yoga therapy, bringing decades of expertise and insight to their teaching, their classes and their practice.
Through this new Yoga Therapy Training Program, they will share what they have learnt and how they have implemented yoga therapy into their school.
Both Simon and Hasu have undertaken extensive study in this area, including time in Pune, dedicating their time and energy to continual learning and generously sharing their knowledge with others.
Yoga therapy sits at the heart of MYC, and this program reflects our long-standing commitment to it. Participants in the program will have the opportunity to explore, adapt, and engage with yoga therapy through a practical, hands-on approach.
Yoga Therapy is highly effective in bringing balance to the body’s systems. The goal of the training program is to breakdown yoga therapy and make it more accessible and simpler to understand.
For teachers who attend they will gain insight into seeing body and feeling the benefits of yoga as a therapy. While also learning how to apply these principles in guiding others safely and effectively.

Yoga Therapy Training at MYC
At MYC, yoga therapy runs through our teaching, our approach to students and how we practice and explore as teachers. Yoga therapy is a cornerstone of our school.
Our approach to yoga therapy is about meeting people where they are when they are in front of us. Yoga therapy is for everyone, and this training will guide you in building both your teaching and your understanding in this area.
You will learn how to read people’s bodies and their individual needs, and how to support them through yoga therapy.
The focus of our Yoga Therapy Training is to enhance your observation of the body by learning to see the student. You will then learn how to take what you have seen and discovered into your teaching in a class setting, as well as how to design and build a tailored yoga therapy sequence.

In Studio & Online
Our Yoga Therapy Training weekends are offered both in-studio and online.
The studio is located at 53 Sydenham Road, Marrickville, just a short walk from the metro train station.
For online participants, sessions are held via Zoom and are engaging and interactive. We ensure you remain connected to what is happening in the studio, and you will be regularly invited to comment, ask questions, and actively participate throughout each session.
Online participants will also need someone to act as a student for adjustments, observation, and practice. This can be a family member or friend with no prior yoga experience. If you prefer, you may collaborate with a fellow teacher and join the online sessions together, taking turns in the role of student so that both of you can practice, observe and learn.

Yoga Therapy Training Weekends
We will be offering two weekends over the year each with a Friday evening and Saturday afternoon session.
The first weekend will focus on the Back of the Body and the second weekend will look at the Front of the Body.
The Friday evening sessions will guide you through learning to see and learning to feel. Observation is a key component of yoga therapy—what we see in the body and what we feel in the poses informs how we support each individual.
The Saturday afternoon sessions will focus on how to apply what you have seen and felt. Building practical tools that can be adapted to meet individual needs in a class or one-on-one.
